This evening, I witnessed a bicyclist get a little bit hit by a cab driver who'd just run a stop sign. |
"You motherfucker!" the bicyclist yelled. "You just ran the stop sign and hit me!"
But instead of speeding off, or trying to weasel his way out of a lawsuit, the driver emerged from his cab with his arms outstretched, and enveloped the biker with a giant hug.
"Brother," the huggist said, "I'm sorry."
Immediately, the bicyclist switched from vengeful rage to sweet acceptance. After a couple minutes of talking, in which the bicyclist urged his newfound companion to never again roll through a stop sign, the two again hugged and parted ways.
The moral of this story: No matter the level of your injurious negligence, an unsolicited hug will buy you out of all consequences.
